Internet Alarm Monitoring

Not so long ago it was seen as essential to have a telephone landline. When dial-up Internet came along, people started to use the Internet to accomplish many day to day tasks, however, making voice calls and sending alarm signals were two items not on the list. Then as Internet reliability and speed increased, Voice over IP (VoIP) started to make inroads. This is when the security industry ran into trouble as monitored subscribers started to cancel their landline voice service expecting to use their VoIP line for alarm monitoring.

Many in the security industry tried, and all failed to reliably send alarm signals through a VoIP provider network. The positive side effect of this experience was that manufacturers started to develop alarm signalling equipment that used "raw" Internet connections as opposed to using "audio" based IP networks from the VoIP providers. IP Alarms are one such company and development is ongoing.

The desire for technology being as it is today, consumers soon started to ask for additional features to take full advantage of their broadband Internet connection. People now want to arm and disarm their system through a web site of from their mobile device, they want alerts sent direct to their mobile device and they want to view live images of their home or business. All of these things and more can be done from the IP Alarms Verified Response Platform which has been in operation since 2003.

Security Alarm

The vast majority of monitoring subscribers with intruder alarms want a simple, reliable, low cost means to have their system monitored over their broadband Internet rather than their landline. They do not need or want all the "bells and whistles" that are on offer. IP Alarms developed the Linksys Alarm Monitoring Solution for this market sector and the use of "off the shelf" hardware coupled with a "plug and play" installation makes it the most cost effective and popular IP monitoring upgrade product on the market today.

Medical Alert

There is currently uncertainty within the medical monitoring industry as to whether or not using the Internet is a viable option where peoples welfare is at stake. Our Medical Monitoring Center partners have confirmed that our protocol independant IP solution works technically, but they are holding back due to concerns on both IP network and mains electric availability. We think this is a very wise decision and in the meantime we continue to develop our dual path medical monitoring solution that uses a cellular network as a backup.

IP Camera

Let's face it - police everywhere are getting "picky". There is a worldwide trend towards a verified response policy where police will not respond to alarm activations unless they are visually verified. The IP Alarms Verified Response Platform has been designed from the ground up as a managed solution for Central Stations to accomplish this without having to invest a single cent in either server-side hardware or software. Our motto is ANY panel - ANY camera !

Cellular Alarm Monitoring

Alarm signals have been sent over traditional telephone landlines for decades and until cellular networks came along there really were few alternatives. Once mobile phones became popular and cellular network costs reduced, alarm manufacturers were quick to provide wireless backup solutions to the security industry.

Alarms over GSM

Even trusty old landlines are not immune from failure and they are definitely prone to line cut attacks. The use of GSM networks removes this vulnerability and GSM is currently the most popular technology for alarm monitoring backup. Constant research and development in this area has resulted in IP Alarms offering of a range of adapters for varying applications.

Alarms over GPRS

High security systems generally require two independently supervised transmission paths to the monitoring server and this is achieved by using the Internet as the primary path and GPRS as secondary. Both paths are fully supervised, so in the event the primary Internet path fails, the solution will failover to the GPRS path. The new IP Alarms product CellAlarm GPRS is ideally suited to this type of application.

IP Alarms have an ongoing investment in the research and development of hardware, software and visual solutions for alarm monitoring and related industries.
