You can enter each of your racepoints and the date of each race at the start of the season, however, this will stop you running a weekly averages report, so it is recommended that you do it on the day of the each race. Click on the button and enter the Race Date & Race Point of the race. Any time before or on the day of the race will need to enter -

Mids. Set to Lib - midnight's between setting the clocks and liberating the birds
Mids. Set to Check - midnight's between setting clocks and checking the clocks after the race
Race Types - the type of race for Averages purposes e.g. OBI - Old Bird Inland.

You can define each race as being up to 3 race types, to allow for races that are included in more than one averages. For example a race may be defined as YB and OBI, because it may be needed for the YB averages and the OBI averages.

Number of Birds in Each Pool

Click on button and you will be presented with a form where you can set the number of birds that have been entered in each pool for that particular race. You can also enter the number of members, number of birds and the amount of Prize money (excluding pools) in the race.

Please note that you must have already set up the amount in pence for each pool e.g. pool A = 1p, pool B = 5p, on the Pools Set Up form. You must enter the number of birds in each pool for each race so that the pools are calculated correctly.

Using Pools in RaceDay

When using pools the rules to remember are :-

1. Set up the pools amounts and payout structure for the club, (once only)
2. Set the number of birds in each pool for each race, (for every race)
3. Enter an individual bird into the different pools when adding clock times. (for each bird in every race)

For smaller clubs, try to use up all of the pools in alphabetical order starting from the A pool as some of the club reports do not have room to show all of the pools. Only ever use the Nom 1 nomination pools as none of the other 5 will show on the result.

Setup Pools

Selecting from the Pools menu allows you to set the amount in pence per pool and also whether to pay each pool by a percentage - or "One in Something". You can also set the percentage to be kept by the club. The amount must be entered in pence and therefore if you have Pool H as a £10 pool, then you must type in 1000. If the club retains a percentage of the pools money, type in the percentage retained. This will be deducted from the payout, and will be added to the race income side of the race profit or loss calculation. When you have entered the amounts for each pool and the percentage kept by the club, click on the button for the next setup form.

You will now be required to choose how each individual pool is paid out. This is done by selecting one of the radio buttons - "percentage" or "one in something". If you choose the percentage button, you will need to enter the percentage payout for first, second, third and fourth places. For example if you pay out 60% for first and 40% for second, enter 60 in the "1st" field and 40 in the "2nd". Leave the other two fields blank.

If a pool is paid out one in something, you will need to enter the details. As an example, if a pool is paid one in ten, then enter 10 in the One in ? field. On this screen you can also define a heading for the nomination pools. This can be any 3 characters (i.e. NOM) and it is used for the race result sheet. You can also specify how the nomination pool is paid out, this can either be to the race winner or to the first bird home. If the nomination pool is not won then the total is added to the carried over total and the date of the race is filled in.
